Reading List Submission Process
Text is submitted for review by any district stakeholder.
Submission Form
The submission should include:
- At least two staff members have read the text under consideration
- Name of text and author
- Text genre
- Intended semester and intended course/grade level of instruction
- Citing of grade level TEKS
- Intended student opportunities for reading this book.
- Lexile Level
- Strengths and Possible objections of the text
- At least two reviews from professional sources
Governing Book Committee reviews the submitted materials.
Committee consists of the Director of Library Services, the Director of Curriculum, the Curriculum Coordinator of Secondary ELAR, and at least three other staff members including instructional coaches, librarians, teachers, and/or central administration personnel. This committee reviews the text for literary merit and developmental and grade-level appropriateness.
